THE MOST INDEBTED PROVINCE IS ANKARA
According to BDDK, in the 9-month period of 2025, Ankara became the most indebted province in Turkey, while the province unable to pay its debts was Karaman. In Karaman, the amount of receivables under follow-up per person reached 13,316 lira. The second province unable to pay its debts was Istanbul with 12,903 lira, and Muğla ranked third with 11,462 lira. In terms of receivables under follow-up per person, Gaziantep ranked fourth with 10,680 lira, and Kocaeli was fifth with 9,989 lira.
According to a report by Yurdagül Uygun from Nefes Newspaper, the province experiencing the least problems in debt repayment was Muş. With 1,702 lira per person, Muş had the lowest receivables under follow-up, followed by Bayburt with 1,865 lira and Gümüşhane with 1,920 lira. According to BDDK's data, the province with the highest amount of credit per person was Ankara. The amount of cash credit per person for residents of Ankara reached 595,699 lira. Ankara was followed by Istanbul with 582,897 lira, Gaziantep with 436,827 lira, Antalya with 383,718 lira, and Denizli with 343,533 lira.
THE LEAST INDEBTED IS BİNGÖL
The regions with the least credit debt were the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions. The city with the least credit debt was Bingöl. In Bingöl, the amount of cash credit per person was recorded as 61,386 lira. Bingöl was followed by Hakkari with 62,973 lira, Ağrı with 66,224 lira, Şırnak with 70,167 lira, and Muş with 82,782 lira.
RECEIVABLES UNDER FOLLOW-UP HAVE DOUBLED
According to BDDK's 9-month data, the receivables under follow-up of banks increased by 91% compared to the same period last year. The receivables under follow-up, which were 263 billion 655 million lira in September last year, rose to 502 billion 762 million lira this year. In contrast, the total cash credits and the increase in cash credits were 42%. As of September 2025, total cash credits reached 21 trillion 740 billion lira, while cash credits amounted to 21 trillion 237 billion lira.

As of September, the amount of cash advances withdrawn from banks has also increased significantly.
