Tourism income in Turkey increased 7.9 percent in the second quarter of 2014, compared to the same quarter of last year, to reach $9 billion, official data released Thursday by Turkish Statistical Institute showed.
Foreign visitors accounted for 84.5 percent of this income, while Turkish citizens living abroad accounted for the rest, according to the released data.
In the quarter of April, May and June, the average expenditure per capita was $818. The average foreign visitor spent $759 per capita, while the average expenditure of Turkish citizens living abroad was $325 per capita.
During the quarter, the number of Turkish citizens travelling abroad increased by 11.3 percent, to reach 2.4 million. According to the data, the average expenditure was $687 per capita.
