21.04.2021 15:42

Mehmet Mus, Derya Yanik, and Vedat Bilgin take their oaths of office in parliament.

Three new Turkish Cabinet ministers were sworn in on Wednesday, including one tasked with boosting Turkey's trade ties.

In parliament in the capital Ankara, Mehmet Mus was sworn in as the new trade minister, succeeding Ruhsar Pekcan.

With the Cabinet departure of Family, Labor and Social Services Minister Zehra Zumrut Selcuk, her portfolio was split up among two successors: new Family and Social Services Minister Derya Yanik and Labor and Social Security Minister Vedat Bilgin.

The split came under a presidential decree.

Mus earned a bachelor's in business from Turkey's Akdeniz University, plus a master's and doctorate from the US' Washington State University and Istanbul's Marmara University, respectively. He also served four terms in parliament.

Yanik, a lawyer, earned an undergraduate law degree from Istanbul University.

After getting a bachelor's in social and administrative science from Turkey's Hacettepe University, Bilgin earned a master's in urbanization and industrialization and a doctorate in economic sociology from Istanbul University.

Bilgin, a former MP, has also been a lecturer at several universities, including England's University of York, the US' Michigan University, and Turkey's Gazi University. He was also an adviser to the presidency. -
