Turkish Airlines captain pilot passed away during the flight: An emergency landing decision was made.

Regarding the matter, THY Press Advisor Yahya Üstün made a post on social media, stating, "The captain pilot of our Airbus 350 aircraft with tail registration TC-LGR, operating the TK204 flight from Seattle to Istanbul, İlçehin Pehlivan, fainted during the flight. After the initial medical intervention on the plane was unsuccessful, the cockpit crew, consisting of 1 captain and 1 co-pilot, decided to make an emergency landing; however, our captain passed away before landing.

"NO ISSUES WERE DETECTED IN THE PERIODIC HEALTH EXAMINATION IN 2024"

"İlçehin Pehlivan, who has been working at Turkish Airlines since 2007, was 59 years old. A periodic health examination was conducted on 08.03.2024 at an Aviation Medical Center authorized by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, and no health issues that would prevent him from performing his duties were detected. Our aircraft has decided to land in New York, and the return of our passengers is being planned through the New York station. As the Turkish Airlines family, we wish God's mercy upon our captain and patience to all his colleagues and loved ones, especially his grieving family," he shared.
