A group of Turkish citizens will hold a rally for "respect to national will" on Friday in Melbourne, the second most populous city in Australia, in support of Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
A video recording of Erdogan's speech to the Turkish citizens will be broadcast in Broadmeadows, a suburban area of Melbourne.
One of the organisers of the event, Samet Istar, told the AA correspondent on Wednesday that they considered Turkey's March 30 local elections a 'democracy test' and Turkey passed it.
"We as the Australian Turkish community, support and respect our Prime Minister, and we invite all to respect the public's decision," Istar said.
Beside citizens of Turkish origin, politicians and people from the Muslim community who live in Australia will attend the rally.
