In Küçükçekmece, two 16-year-old girls who had run away from a care home and come to the house, where their father locked them in a room, fell and were seriously injured when the bedsheet tore as they tried to escape through the third-floor window using a bedsheet; one of the girls taken to hospital remains in critical condition.
In Istanbul's Küçükçekmece district, 16-year-old H.U., whom her father locked in the house after she escaped from a care home, and her same-age friend A.R. were seriously injured after falling from a height of several meters while trying to escape through a third-floor window using bedsheets. While it was learned that one of the young girls taken to hospital was fighting for her life, the father was taken into custody.
THEY ESCAPED FROM THE CARE HOME AND CAME HOME, WERE LOCKED IN A ROOM
The incident occurred in the morning on the third floor of a 5-story apartment building on İkbal Street in Gültepe Neighborhood. Ö.U., who had lost his wife a while ago, placed his daughter H.U. in a care home. According to the allegation, H.U. escaped from the care home together with her friend A.R. and came to her father's house. Noticing that his daughter had come, Ö.U. locked his daughter H.U. and her friend A.R. in a room and then notified the care home authorities of the situation.
WHEN THE SHEET TORE, THE WORST HAPPENED
The two friends, wanting to escape from the room where they were locked, lowered bedsheets they had tied together from the third-floor window. While they were trying to climb down with the help of the sheets, the sheet they were holding onto tore, causing one of the young girls to fall onto the hard ground and the other onto the roof of the coal shed. Upon notification from those around, police and medical teams were quickly dispatched to the address. H.U. and A.R., whom medical teams gave first aid at the scene, were taken to hospital by ambulances. It was reported that A.R., one of the young girls taken under treatment, was in life-threatening danger.
FATHER TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Police teams, who carried out detailed examinations at the scene and in the apartment, took into custody the father Ö.U., who was stated to have locked his daughter and her friend in the room, and brought him to the police station. The large-scale investigation launched regarding the incident is ongoing.
