"I AM PROUD TO BE TURKISH"

Meanwhile, Merih Demiral's goal celebration, which caused a great impact, was explained by him in the following words: "The meaning behind it is that I have seen people doing it in goal celebrations in the stands as well. We are all Turkish, and I am proud to be Turkish. I always emphasize this. That's why I did the goal celebration like that. It's completely normal, and our Turkish fans are also proud of us. Hopefully, we will continue to do it. There is no specific message, I just wanted to show how proud and happy I am."

SCANDALOUS COMMENT FROM GERMAN NEWSPAPER BILD

The German newspaper, Bild, titled Merih Demiral's celebration as "Fascist Wolf salute" and interpreted his gesture as an "extreme right-wing celebration," forgetting their own recent history.
