"Unauthorized demonstration" measure from Istanbul Governorship! Some roads and metro stations have been closed.

Istanbul Governorship announced that certain measures have been taken in response to unauthorized protest marches and press statements called for today in the Taksim and Istiklal Avenue areas through announcements made on social media by certain groups. Some roads have been closed to traffic, and Taksim and Sishane metro stations have also been closed until further notice.

TAKSIM AND SURROUNDING AREAS CLOSED TO VEHICLE TRAFFIC

According to the announcement made by the Governorship, in order to prevent the unauthorized organization, as of 08:00, Taksim Square, Republic Monument, Gezi Park, Istiklal Avenue, and the surrounding streets up to Tünel Square, as well as Karakoy Square and its surroundings, will be closed to vehicle traffic, while pedestrian traffic will be controlled.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTES ANNOUNCED

As of 10:00, the following routes have been designated as alternative routes: the road connecting Sıraselviler Avenue and Hocazade Street to Taksim Square, the road from the kiosks in Taksim Square to Istiklal Avenue, the entrance and exit from Refik Saydam Avenue to Asmalı Mescit Avenue, the intersection of Ensiz Street and İlk Belediye Avenue, the intersection of Balo Street and Turnacıbaşı Avenue, the intersection of Sadri Alışık Street and Atıf Yılmaz Avenue, Yeni Çarşı Avenue, Kumbaracı Slope, Turnacıbaşı Avenue, Meşelik Street, and Sadri Alışık Street leading to Istiklal Avenue, the intersection of Yeni Çarşı Avenue and Istiklal Avenue, and the direction towards Istiklal Avenue, the entrance to Taksim Tunnel and the direction towards Istiklal Avenue, and Tak-ı Zafer Avenue will be closed to traffic.

The alternative routes are determined as İnönü Avenue, Tarlabaşı Boulevard, Refik Saydam Avenue, and Meslic-i Mebusan Avenue.

TRAINS WILL NOT STOP AT TAKSIM AND ŞİŞHANE STATIONS

In accordance with the decision made by the Istanbul Governorship, as of 10:00 today, until a second announcement is made, the M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line's Taksim and Şişhane stations, as well as the F1 Taksim-Kabataş Funicular Line, will be closed. The trains will continue their service without stopping at Taksim and Şişhane stations.
