The former President of the Search and Rescue Association (AKUT), Nasuh Mahruki, was arrested and sent to prison on November 20 due to statements he made on social media. The investigation against Mahruki has been completed. In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that Mahruki acted with the intention of causing concern, fear, or panic among the public with the expressions he used in his social media posts, and considering the content and view counts of the posts, the act was suitable for disturbing public peace. THE REQUESTED PENALTY HAS BEEN REVEALEDThe indictment also noted that a separate investigation was being conducted regarding the charge of 'publicly insulting the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the judicial organs of the state' against Mahruki. In the indictment, it was requested that suspect Nasuh Mahruki be sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 1 to 3 years for the crime of 'publicly disseminating misleading information.' The trial of the suspect will begin in the coming days at the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance.
