Update - European Youth Olympic Games - Day 3

Day three of events of the European Youth Olympic Festival ended in the eastern Turkish province of Erzurum Wednesday with at least 675 athletes from 34 countries competing to take home the gold.

This is the first time Turkey has hosted the games, also known as EYOF 2017.

The games' opening ceremonies were held on Sunday night at Erzurum's 25,000-person capacity Kazim Karabekir Stadium.

Crowds of people showed up to see the event, despite the chilly -14 Celsius (6.8 Fahrenheit) weather.

Men's 10 km biathlon

1. Thomas Briffaz (France) won the gold with a time of 28.45.9.

2. Jason Drezet (France), with 28.48.9, won the silver medal.

3. Andrei Viukhin (Russia) with 28.49.1, won the bronze medal.

Okan Alalma (Turkey), with a time of 35.33.7, came in 36th among 50 competitors.

Women's 7.5 km biathlon

1. Anna Grigoreva (Russia) won the gold with a time of 24.45.8.

2. Anastasia Shevchenko (Russia), with 25.22.9, won the silver medal.

3. Camille Bened (France), with 26.21.8, won the bronze medal.

Gulsah Aga (Turkey), with a time of 29.19.6, came in 21st among 45 competitors.

Women's figure skating

1. Alina Zagitova (Russia) won the gold with 187.06 points.

2. Anastasia Gozhva (Ukraine), with 127.18 points, won the silver.

3. Lucrezia Gennaro (Italy), with 125.53 points, won the bronze.

Ekin Saygi (Turkey), with 83.68 points, came in 17th among 21 competitors.

Men's figure skating

1. Petr Gumennik (Russia) won the gold.

2. Daniel Grassl (Italy) won the silver.

3. Nika Egadze (Georgia) won the bronze.

4. Basar Oktar (Turkey) came in 4th.

Men's 1,500 m short-track speed skating

1. Peter Murphy (Luxembourg) won the gold with a time of 2.24.536.

2. Konstantin Ivliev (Russia), with 2.24.712, won the silver.

3. Luca Spechenhauser (Italy), with 2.24.956, won the bronze.

Fatih Ozden (Turkey), with a time of 2.31.082, came in 17th among 28 competitors.

Women's 1,500 m short-track speed skating

1. Vera Rasskazova (Russia) won the gold with a time of 2.35.111.

2. Sofya Boytsova (Russia), with 2.35.255, won the silver.

3. Melissa Tunno (Italia), with 2.35.411, won the bronze.

Sema Cirti (Turkey), with a time of 2.42.974, came in 14th among 27 competitors.

Women's Alpine Skiing

1. Nika Tomsic (Slovenia) won gold with a time of 1.54.64.

2. Nella Korpio (Finland), won the silver.

3. Lara Della Mea (Italy), won the bronze.

Sila Kara (Turkey), with a time of 2.09.02 came in 34th.

Women's snowboarding

1. Agathe Sillieres (France), with 70 points, won the gold medal.

2. Kim Martinez (France), won the silver.

3. Ellie Soutter (Great Britain), won the bronze.

Men's snowboarding

1. Lucas Cornillat (France), with 50 points, won the gold medal.

2. Glib Mostovenko (Ukraine), won the silver medal.

3. Daniil Donskikh (Russia), won the bronze medal. -
