Update - Swiss Rule Out Terrorism İn Chainsaw Attack

24.07.2017 22:13

Swiss authorities identified the suspect of the chainsaw attack in a Swiss town as 51-year-old Franz Wrousis.

Wrousis, who suffers from a schizophrenic disorder, had two previous convictions for infractions of Swiss weapons laws, authorities said on Monday.

The attacker entered an office building in a suburban area of Schaffhausen, northern Switzerland, where he carried out the attack on Monday morning. He reportedly targeted the offices of a health insurance company.

He was a client of the health insurance firm, the branch of which he attacked on Monday, police said.

The attacker who mostly lives in the forest is still carrying the chainsaw with him and could be heavily armed, the police said in a press conference.

Swiss police also confirmed that a chainsaw attack in a Swiss town in which at least five people were injured, was not a terrorist incident.

According to the officials, two of the them were seriously injured but their lives were not in danger.

Officers sealed off the scene of the attack in the northern town, near the German border. -
