Update - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Down At Close

Turkey's benchmark stock index decreased by 0.73% to close at 87,380.43 points on Wednesday.



Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 88,069.99 points and lost 642.51 points from Tuesday's close of 88,022.94 points.



In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, the price of one ounce of gold was around $1,297.40 by market close, down from $1,298.60 the previous day.



The price of Brent crude oil was around $71.75 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) Wednesday.



The benchmark index hovered between 86,043.09 and 88,115.72 points during Wednesday's trading.



The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 578 billion Turkish liras ($95.6 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 5.67 billion Turkish liras ($934.5 million).



On the third transaction day of the week, 22 stocks on the index were on the rise, 70 were on the decline, and eight were flat compared to the previous close.



The top listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, private lender Garanti ($6.1 billion) and petrochemical company Tupras.



The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti and mining company Koza Anadolu.



Shares of Koza Anadolu were the top gainers -- up 5.11% -- and leasing company Is Finansal Kiralama dropped the most, 14.61%.
