Following the backlash, Kaygılaroğlu made a statement. He said that he took the photos to support a friend's art project and apologized. In his statement, Kaygılaroğlu expressed: "I felt the need to respond to the news and reactions about me in social media and the press. My intention was to support the art project of someone special in my life. If the visuals that emerged from my support caused discomfort in our society, I cannot simply brush it off as art, and I want to express that I am very sorry.
