The statement said, "This operation is a clear and firm reminder that SOUTHCOM is taking the fight directly to the cartels. Under the direction of SOUTHCOM Commander General Francis L. Donovan, the Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere conducted a lethal strike on a low-profile vessel operating along identified drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific. Verified intelligence revealed the vessel was actively involved in drug trafficking. Two narcotics terrorists were killed in the operation."
