US Initial Jobless Claims Fall By 11,000

211,000 claims filed last week, less than estimates of 216,000.

The number of Americans filing first-time unemployment claims fell by 11,000 last week to 211,000, according to Labor Department data released Thursday.

The figure was lower than market estimates of 216,000.

The previous week's reading was revised up by 1,000 from 221,000 to 222,000.

The four-week moving average was 214,250, a decrease of 250 from the previous week's revised average.

The US economy added 303,000 jobs in March, while the unemployment rate fell to 3.8% from 3.9% in February. -
