US Stock Market Opens Lower Despite Positive Data

12.10.2017 17:28

Indexes retreat from record high levels.

The U.S. stock market opened lower Thursday despite positive macroeconomic data.

The Dow fell 25 points to begin trading at 22,847 points, and the S&P 500 lost 3 points to open at 2,552 points.

The Nasdaq decreased 3 points to start the day at 6,599 points.

All the three major indexes retreated from their record highs at the closing on Wednesday.

Initial jobless claims fell 15,000 last week to 234,000, beating the market expectation of 250,000, the U.S. Department of Labor announced earlier Thursday.

Producers' Price Index rose 0.4 percent in September, compared to last month, and increased 2.6 percent, compared to same period last year, to come in line with market expectations, according to the Department of Labor. -
