US stocks began Thursday with mixed figures.
The Dow was at 32,367 points, up 247 from its previous close.
The S&P 500 earned 19 points to reach 3,997 and the Nasdaq fell by 12 points to 11,422.
The VIX volatility index, also known as the fear index, dropped 2.5% to 27.66 at 1402 GMT. The dollar index fell by 0.16% to 101.9.
Precious metal prices posted slight increases, with gold rising by a modest 0.02% to $1,846.82 per ounce and silver by 0.34% to $21.94.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading at $113.25, up 1.92% at 1350 GMT. West Texas Intermediate rose 3.07% to $113.7. -
