While calculating the amount or rate of the discount, it was noted that sellers should base it on the previous price before the discounted price, stating, "The lowest price applied within the 30 days prior to the date the discount is applied should be taken as the basis for the price of the goods or services subject to discounted sales. If there is a validity period or stock limit regarding the price, this period and stock quantity must be clearly stated in the advertisements. To prevent consumer grievances, consumers who have suffered losses regarding misleading and deceptive discounted sales campaigns and practices conducted by sellers and providers should apply to the Advertising Board within our Ministry, and consumers who have experienced loss of rights in purchases made under discounted sales campaigns should apply to Consumer Arbitration Committees or Consumer Courts, taking into account the monetary limits."



SALES EXPLOSION IN NOVEMBER



On the other hand, it was recorded that the e-commerce volume in 2023 reached 1 trillion 850 billion TL, stating, "The busiest period in terms of transaction volume in 2023 has been November due to the impact of campaigns. In November, the e-commerce volume was 50% above the monthly averages for the year. The transaction volume in this month constituted approximately 12.5% of the annual volume. The average basket size in product categories of marketplaces, which was 403 TL throughout the year, reached 508 TL in November. The day with the highest transaction volume in 2023 was November 24, Teachers' Day. This day was followed by November 11. The main categories that stood out in the November campaigns in terms of transaction volume were shoes, shirts, mobile phones, coats, jackets, and vacuum cleaners."
