It was announced that 3 of the 20 soldiers who were martyred as a result of the crash of a C-130 military cargo plane belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces, which took off from Azerbaijan to Turkey, were from Kayseri. The Ministry of National Defense shared the identities of the martyrs, and the news of 3 martyrs reached Kayseri at once.

MARTYRED MAJORS AND SERGEANT WERE FROM KAYSERI

The Air Pilot Major Nihat İlgen, Air Pilot Major Serdar Uslu, and Air Aircraft Maintenance Senior Sergeant Nuri Özcan, who were martyred in the disaster, are being remembered with tears in their hometown of Kayseri.

"WE WILL SEND OFF OUR THREE HEROES FOR THE HOMELAND"

After the news of the martyrs, Turkish flags were hung in front of many houses in various cities, and condolence tents were set up. While the preparations for the ceremony in Kayseri continue, the people of the city shared their grief with the words, "We will send off our three heroes for the homeland." The Ministry of National Defense reported that a technical investigation regarding the accident is ongoing and that the black box is being examined.

TWO POSSIBLE CAUSES ARE BEING CONSIDERED

Experts are focusing on two possible technical reasons for the accident. The first possibility is related to the age of the aircraft. The C-130, which has been in use for over 50 years, had its last major maintenance in 2020, and it is considered that a structural failure may have occurred in the air due to metal fatigue or corrosion. The second possibility is a loading error. Improper securing of loads in transport aircraft can create instability and vibration during flight; this situation can also lead to fuselage damage.
