While the possibility of a new wave of migration to Turkey due to the ongoing conflicts in Syria was being discussed, a contrary development occurred. Following the capture of Aleppo by the opposition, many Syrians from Hatay and its surrounding areas flocked to the Cilvegözü Border Gate to return to the lands where they were born and raised.

The anti-regime groups led by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, which have been clashing with the forces of Bashar al-Assad's regime in Syria for 6 days, have regained a large part of the city center of Aleppo. Following the developments, many Syrians living in Hatay and surrounding cities have started to return to their country after Aleppo came under the control of the opposition.

THEY FLOODED TO THE BORDER FROM EARLY HOURS

After the operation launched by opposition groups in Syria and the control of Aleppo, reverse migration began. Many Syrians living in Hatay and its surroundings created a crowd at the Cilvegözü Customs Gate in Reyhanlı district from the early hours of the morning. Syrians arriving at the customs gate with their belongings went to the cities or villages where they were born and raised after their procedures.

"I DECIDED TO RETURN AFTER THE CONTROL OF ALEPPO"

Ayşe Hamsin, who returned to Syria with her child, stated that she had been living in Turkey for 3 years, saying, "I decided to return after the control of Aleppo. I missed my relatives very much. I had no one here. I could only talk to them on the phone." Hüseyin El Muhammed also said, "I fled the war and came to Turkey 5 years ago. With the regime withdrawing from our lands, I am now returning home."
