After the Memleket Party process, Muharrem İnce, who returned to CHP, made a remarkable statement about the "purification" and "resistance" crisis within the party. Sending a message to Hakan Bayrakçı, İnce argued that the CHP chairman should be elected directly by party members, not by delegates, and said, "I am not on anyone's side; I want to act as a senior figure in the party."
Things are not calming down in the main opposition party CHP. The internal party tension, inflamed by Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's 'purification' and Özgür Özel's 'resistance' statements following the absolute nullity decision that placed Kılıçdaroğlu in the chair of the general presidency, has now been joined by Muharrem İnce, who has returned to the fold. İnce, whose position in the power struggles within CHP is being watched with curiosity, made a radical congress call in a message he sent last night to Hakan Bayrakçı, head of SONAR Research.
"LET THE GENERAL PRESIDENT BE ELECTED BY MEMBERS, NOT DELEGATES"
According to information relayed by Hakan Bayrakçı during a live broadcast; Muharrem İnce proposed a sweeping bylaw change that would end the leadership debates in CHP. Strongly opposing ideas for establishing a new party, İnce demanded the complete abolition of the delegate system. İnce articulated a democratic congress formula where the CHP General President would be elected through the direct participation of all registered party members.
"I AM ON NO ONE'S SIDE"
Stating that he has not sided with any clique in the internal party polarization, Muharrem İnce emphasized that his goal is to prevent the division of CHP. Saying, "No one's party loyalty should be questioned," İnce sent a message of compromise to the parties and expressed that he has no personal ambition for the future, making these striking remarks: "I have no personal expectations from CHP. In this process, I am not positioning myself alongside or against anyone. I just want to act as an 'elder brother' to my party and my organization."
"CHP HAS FALLEN INTO THE TRAP OF THE PALACE REGIME"
Also sharing a written statement after the 'group meeting' crisis earlier this week, saying "For those asking where I stand, here is my answer: I am with CHP," İnce issued a stern warning to both the current party administration and the opposition factions. Describing the debates centered around Kılıçdaroğlu and Özel as an "unfortunate fight," İnce stated, "Unfortunately, CHP has fallen into the trap set by the palace regime. A meaningless, unnecessary, baseless, and unfortunate harsh fight is being waged around the concepts of 'purification' and 'resistance,' leading CHP towards fragmentation," and underlined that the internal party energy should be directed against the government.
