Who Hails Turkish Efforts For Refugees As 'Spectacular'

Turkey signs agreements on technical cooperation with WHO.

The World Health Organization's regional director Zsuzsanna Jakab on Thursday hailed Turkish efforts for refugees as "spectacular".



She was speaking at a ceremony in Istanbul where Turkey and WHO signed an agreement on technical cooperation.



Jakab said Turkey has recorded various successful endeavors, including training and integration of Syrian medics into the system.



"I would also like to congratulate you again for your excellent work to integrate Syrian healthcare workers with your health care systems."



She said the WHO will share Turkey's success with the world at every possible platform.



Jakab said the WHO is on the way to expand its office in Turkey in order to facilitate the alliance and humanitarian aid activities.



For his part, Turkish Health Minister Ahmet Demircan said Turkey has been providing "tremendous" assistance to the refugees.



"Refugees in our country are provided with crucial assistance related to health. It has been 7 years in our successful services to them," he said.



He also criticised the European countries for not fulfilling their promises to support Turkey regarding refugees.



- Agreements with 2 African countries



Separately, Turkish Health Ministry announced that Minister Ahmet Demircan has met with his counterparts of Niger and Zambia to sign agreements on health-related areas.



"What we can do together is vital, it will be permanent if we do it together. We can contribute not only on financial and technical support but also cultivate human power for our fruitful work," a statement "ed Demircan as saying.



Niger Health Minister Iliassov Mainassana also said the mutual work with Turkey will strengthen the brotherhood between the two countries.



Turkey also signed a pact with Zambia to work in health areas to boost experience sharing in health-related issues, the statement said. -
