Since October 7, 2023, the health system in Gaza, which has been under Israeli attacks, has reached a terrible state. In addition to hospitals that have lost their functionality due to the attacks by Israeli forces, the hospitals that are still operational are lacking medical equipment and electricity because humanitarian aid efforts have not been allowed. "9 OUT OF 10 CHILDREN HAVE INFECTIOUS DISEASES"World Health Organization (WHO) spokesperson Margaret Harris stated that there is a dire health situation in northern Gaza. Emphasizing that 9 out of every 10 children under the age of 5 have infectious diseases, Harris reported that women are giving birth every day in unsanitary, inadequate, and unsafe conditions. "NO POSSIBILITY TO TREAT PATIENTS"Harris mentioned that more than 100,000 people have been injured, with over 24,000 of the injured suffering from very serious injuries and needing long-term treatment and rehabilitation to return to their normal lives. She noted that there are individuals battling serious illnesses such as kidney failure, heart diseases, diabetes, and cancer, and explained that there are no means to treat patients. "NORTHERN GAZA IS A COMPLETE HELL IN TERMS OF HEALTH"Harris stated, "Northern Gaza is a complete hell in terms of health. Because the few doctors, nurses, and health workers remaining in northern Gaza are trying to care for people with horrific injuries. They are also suffering from the attacks." "HOSPITALS ARE LACKING EVERYTHING"Harris emphasized that there are 3 hospitals serving in northern Gaza, and none of them are fully functional. "They are doing their best. At best, they are partially functional. They are lacking everything. They are without medical supplies, food, water, and safe electricity. The staff there are still doing their best to help everyone who comes," she stated. Harris expressed that most of the missions they want to carry out in northern Gaza as WHO have been rejected by Israel, stating that they were able to reach Kemal Advan Hospital a few days ago, but were not allowed to bring sufficient supplies, especially fuel. "VERY LITTLE FOOD IS ENTERING NORTHERN GAZA"Harris indicated that the situation in northern Gaza regarding access to food and hunger is worsening significantly, saying, "We already knew that 60% of the children are in serious condition. We know that very little food is entering here. Even when attempts were made to bring food, there were large-scale looting incidents. Hospital staff say they are seeing many more people suffering from malnutrition."
