The claim that an annual 2000 euros (approximately 71,000 TL) homeland support tax will be imposed on expatriates in the new tax package being prepared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance has caused a great stir in the public. The Presidency of Communication, which denied the claim published on some news websites, stated that the allegations made about the new tax package, which was prepared with the aim of strengthening justice in taxation, were found to aim to create anxiety and insecurity in the public.

The claim that an annual 2000 euro homeland support tax will be imposed on expatriates, which is found in some social media accounts and news websites, caused a sensation in a short time.

The Communication Presidency Disinformation Combat Center denied the claim that an annual tax of up to 71,000 TL will be collected from expatriates.

"THERE IS NO SUCH HEADLINE IN THE TAX PACKAGE"

In the statement made by the Communication Presidency, it was stated that "there is no taxation work under any title for our citizens living abroad in the new tax package being prepared by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance.

The suggestions and expectations submitted to the Ministry of Treasury and Finance by stakeholders in the market regarding the aforementioned new tax package are being evaluated, and it is planned to be submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly after being finalized by the Ministry.

It has been determined that the allegations made regarding the new tax package prepared with the aim of further strengthening justice and increasing effectiveness in taxation are intended to create anxiety and lack of trust in the public.
