The snowfall affecting the Sarıkamış district of Kars blanketed the Scots pine forests in white. After the precipitation that continued intermittently for two days, snow depth reached 15 centimeters on some slopes at the ski resort. While the postcard-like landscape created by the snow-covered forests was captured with a drone, disruptions in transportation were experienced in some areas.
Snowfall, which has increased its effect in Kars in recent days, created postcard-like landscapes in the Sarıkamış district. Following the precipitation that has continued intermittently for two days, the district center, mountains and Scots pine forests were covered in white. While the snow accumulated on the branches of the trees revealed the natural beauty of the region, aerial footage of the ski resort and the forested areas around it drew attention.
A VISUAL FEAST IN THE SCOTS PINE FORESTS
In Sarıkamış, one of Turkey's important winter tourism centers, the effects of the winter season became evident with the snowfall. While the Scots pine forests surrounding the district were completely covered with a white blanket, the snow depth reached 15 centimeters on the second-stage slopes of the ski resort. The forests and the ski resort, covered in white, were filmed with a drone.
SNOWFALL ALSO AFFECTED TRANSPORTATION
While the snowfall revealed natural beauties, it also made transportation difficult in some areas. Drivers had difficulty advancing due to heavy snow at the Hanlar Pass location of the Kars-Digor highway. Highways teams started snowplowing work in the Karakurt area of Sarıkamış. In the district, citizens also cleared the snow accumulated on their vehicles and the surroundings.
