WHAT HAPPENED?

The body of university student Rojin Kabaiş, who went missing on September 27 in Van, was found 18 days later on the shores of Lake Van. Rojin was a first-year student in the Department of Child Development at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. That day, after having dinner at the dormitory, she went outside to collect pebbles and did not return. When her friends could not reach Rojin, they reported her missing to the police on September 28. Her friends, who stated that Rojin had gone to the shores of Lake Van, had refused to go with her.

On the same day, Rojin's mobile phone, headphones, cake, and water were found on the beach. The police, along with the Gendarmerie Coast Guard and AFAD, began search efforts. Additionally, intensive efforts were made to find Rojin using volunteer search teams and various technical devices.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced the process of finding the body. According to a report by Nazif Karaman from Sabah newspaper, the initial examination revealed that Rojin's body had been in the water for a long time and had swollen, and her clothes were found on her. It was determined that there were no signs of trauma during the initial examination. Rojin's body will be examined at the Forensic Medicine Institute for a more detailed examination.
