World Cup: England Take On Croatia İn Semifinal

11.07.2018 14:13

Three Lions look to their first final in over 50 years, while Croatia on verge of making history.

England and Croatia will battle for a World Cup Final ticket on Wednesday evening.

The match at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow will start at 9 p.m. local time (GMT1800).

The Three Lions will look to advance to their first final in 52 years, after their 1966 triumph over then-West Germany to claim the World Cup.

Croatia, on the other hand, are seeing their first semifinal appearance since 1998, when they were bested by hosts France 2-1.

Croatia could make history, as its team never before played in a World Cup final.

Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir will officiate the match, along with Bahattin Duran and Tarik Ongun. Dutchman Bjorn Kuipers will be the fourth official.

England finished Group G in second place and later eliminated Colombia in Round of 16 on penalties. They beat Sweden 2-0 to advance to the semifinal.

Croatia -- currently undefeated in the tournament -- topped Group D. They eliminated Denmark and Russia both on penalties in knockout stages to reach the semifinal. -
