A verdict was reached in the trial of Yaşar İpek, who was sued upon the complaint of the Chief Rabbinate of Turkey Foundation due to certain expressions in her posts reacting to Israel's attacks. The case was heard at the Istanbul 21st Criminal Court of First Instance.

“SHE TARGETED THOSE WHO SUPPORT ISRAEL”

Yaşar İpek's lawyer, who made a defense in the hearing, stated that her client did not target Jews living in Turkey but individuals who support Israel's attacks.

COURT DECIDES 3 YEARS IN PRISON

The court panel sentenced Yaşar İpek to 2 years in prison for the crime of “threat with the aim of creating fear and panic among the public.” The panel concluded that the crime was committed through the press and media, increased the sentence by half, bringing the total sentence to 3 years.

“I WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE POSTS”

After the verdict, Yaşar İpek shared a video on her Instagram account with her lawyer, stating that her target is the state of Israel and Israeli soldiers. In her statement, İpek said, “I made some posts due to the genocide of the murderous Zionist Israel. A case was filed against me because of this. This prison sentence will not take away anything from my humanity. I acted purely out of my human feelings.”

İpek continued her statement with the following words: “My opposition is against the Zionist state of Israel and its soldiers. I will continue to make these posts. Whatever the time I have to serve, I will serve it.”

Yaşar İpek's lawyer stated that they will object to the decision, saying, “I believe this erroneous decision will be overturned.”
