Yasin Oyanık, known as "Ankara Abisi", was arrested on money laundering charges.

Striking allegations have come to the fore regarding Yasin Oyanık, nicknamed "Ankara Abisi", known for the aid campaigns and social responsibility projects he carried out on social media, and the famous influencer Cem Özkök. It was alleged that the two figures ran an illegal financial flow exceeding 2 billion TL through their personal bank accounts and the association structures they established.

DETENTION ORDER FOR ANKARA ABİSİ

According to the allegations, it was claimed that a significant portion of the enormous resources transferred through the accounts belonged to illegal structures that fled abroad. Within the scope of the investigation, 'Ankara Abisi' Yasin Oyanık was taken into custody as part of a confidential judicial process carried out in Uşak. Oyanık, who was brought before the court, was arrested.

STATEMENT FROM HIS LAWYER

In the statement made by Oyanık's lawyer regarding the matter, the following statements were included: "Dear members, volunteers, donors, and esteemed public, Our client, our Association President, Mr. Yasin Oyanık; within the scope of the Uşak-centered investigation conducted about him, he was taken into custody on 09.10.2026 within the scope of the allegation that the money sent by some donors to the association's account constitutes a crime, was transferred to Uşak province for statement procedures, and upon a detention order being issued on 13.10.2026 with the charge of "Creating an Impression that Assets Were Acquired Through Legitimate Means", the need to inform you has arisen.

First of all; a detention order is not a conviction and does not mean that the alleged crimes have been established as committed. Our Association President Mr. Oyanık does not accept the accusations; he requests that his statements, the association's financial records, and documents concerning aid activities be evaluated together. Our statements regarding the alleged matters have been submitted to the prosecutor's office, and our defense and objections have been made in detail to the investigating authorities.

Ankara Abisi Charity Association operates to support those in need. Our work in the fields of food, clothing, education, health, and shelter has been carried out with the contributions of our donors and the efforts of our volunteers. The authenticity of these activities and the use of donations can be examined through bank transactions, invoices, and aid and delivery records. Our association's approach is to submit the relevant information and documents to the competent authorities in accordance with due process in order to reveal the material truth.

"MONEY TRANSFERS ARE WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE FINANCIAL INVESTIGATION"

A significant part of the investigation consists of allegations regarding the source of certain transfers coming into the association's accounts. These allegations, and whether the association's managers knowingly acted with criminal intent regarding that source, are matters that must be investigated separately. Besides the association's aid activities, the presence of unspent resources in accounts and in assets registered in the association's name is also within the scope of the financial investigation. Therefore, we take care to avoid making incomplete, inconclusive, or misleading statements to the public.

We understand our members' and donors' expectation to receive information. How our aid activities can be carried out under the current legal and factual conditions will vary depending on the possibility of the prosecutor's office applying any measure; if no measure is applied regarding the association's activities, the continuation of the activities will be evaluated by our board of directors; the status of the activities and developments concerning our members will be announced through our official communication channels. The privacy of aid recipients and the confidentiality of the investigation will be protected.

We request that press organizations and social media users not present allegations that have not yet become judicially final as if they were verdicts; and that they base posts that may affect the reputation of Mr. Oyanık, association employees, our volunteers, and our donors on verified information. While maintaining our respect for the judicial process, all necessary information will be provided to the investigating authorities and the prosecutor's office, and we believe that the defense and all evidence will be evaluated completely."
