Over 500 Pakistanis stranded in Yemen landed at Karachi International Airport late Sunday.
Thousands gathered outside the airport to welcome their loved ones who had nightmares and ordeals to share. Upon landing, many kissed the ground and shouted "Allahu Akbar" -- God is Great -- as they came out the plane.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced his government would send more planes to evacuate over 2,000 Pakistanis stranded in different parts of the war-torn country. Two Pakistan navy frigates are already on their way to Aden to evacuate hundreds of stranded Pakistanis.
A spokesman for Saudi armed forces said the Saudi Arabia-led coalition halted bombardment for two hours on Sunday to ensure the evacuation of Pakistanis. Prime Minister Sharif had asked Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz on Saturday for his country's help in evacuation efforts.
