A YPG/PKK terrorist trying to illegally enter Turkey was arrested near the country's southeastern border, a security source said on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off, security forces arrested the suspect – said to be an active member of the YPG/PKK terror group – in the Akcakale district of the southeastern Sanliurfa province, said the source, requesting anonymity due to restrictions on speaking to the media.
The suspect was taken for a health check and is now under interrogation, the source added.
In its more than 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU – has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants. The YPG is the PKK's Syrian offshoot.
