Yusuf Dikeç, who made a mark at the Olympic Games, has announced his new goal.

National athlete Yusuf Dikeç, who made headlines with his one-handed shot while keeping the other in his pocket at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, has announced his new goal. Dikeç stated that he aims to win a gold medal at the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics.

Yusuf Dikeç, who won a silver medal for Turkey in the mixed team category of the 10-meter air pistol event with his teammate Şevval İlayda Tarhan at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, made statements.

MADE A MARK ON THE OLYMPICS

Not using equipment such as lenses, eye protection, or ear protection during the competitions, Dikeç became the most talked-about name on social media during Paris 2024 with his iconic shooting stance. He shared his iconic shooting position, his correspondence with Elon Musk on social media, his preparation process for the Olympics, his new goals, and his advice to young people.

Speaking about his shooting stance, Dikeç said, "That stance was not just for that day, it was a position I have always done since the years I started shooting. In fact, my friends have found it on social media from the years I became first in the World Cup in 2011. It was the same position, the same stance. We were a bit younger then, we didn't have glasses on our eyes, and our hair was darker. Of course, I am very happy that it has been so well accepted and appreciated in the world, first for myself, then for my country, and for the sport I practice. It created awareness. The shooting sport was not a well-known sport in Turkey. After this stance made a noise in the world, people got to know the shooting sport. Shooting is the sport that distributes the most medals in the Olympics after athletics. I am happy both for myself and for my country," he said.

"IT MAKES US HAPPY THAT IT IS SHARED BY SUCCESSFUL ATHLETES"

Speaking about the great interest his shooting stance has garnered both domestically and internationally, Yusuf Dikeç said, "It's like music. Even if we don't understand the language of the song being sung, we listen to it when it sounds pleasant to our ears. When we see a beautiful piece of art, we watch it, and it pleases us. Sports are like that; they are universal. That's why beautiful movements are shared by beautiful people because they are universal like art. Of course, it also makes us happy and proud that a movement belonging to us is shared by successful athletes around the world," he said.

"I WORKED TO PUT MY COUNTRY IN THE SPOTLIGHT"

Speaking about his conversation with Elon Musk that made headlines, Dikeç said, "This success does not belong to me alone. It is a team effort, a success achieved on behalf of the country. While speaking there, I worked to highlight my country rather than myself. Our thought and idea is to serve this country. Our next goal is the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics. Of course, everything that starts has an end. As long as our health and age allow, we plan to participate. We have already started working. If we can bring a gold medal to our country there, we will be very happy, of course. We will continue to work for that. Even if we stop shooting after 2028, as I said, there are many ways to serve this country. With our knowledge and our sportsmanship, we will continue as managers," he said.
