Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that upon returning from his visit to the United States, he held a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron and offered assistance to France, which is fighting forest fires.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a statement on his social media account that he held a phone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron on his way back from Washington. Zelensky stated that he informed Macron about the details of his contacts at the White House and the US Senate, as well as current diplomatic expectations, and noted that every opportunity should be used to get closer to peace. Zelensky said the leaders coordinated possible steps and expressed gratitude to Macron for his determination to help and make every necessary effort.
"I OFFERED ASSISTANCE TO FRANCE"
Zelensky reported that during the conversation Macron mentioned the large-scale forest fires ongoing in France, and he offered firefighting support to France. In his assessment of the matter, Zelensky said, "Ukraine is always ready to help those who have supported us during these years of our struggle against Russian aggression. I offered assistance to France. Our experts can participate in firefighting efforts."
It was also reported that during the meeting between the two leaders, preparations for the winter months were discussed in detail. Zelensky noted that the delivery of essential energy and air defense packages was discussed and added that France would work to produce solutions to support Ukraine.
