Ersoy, whose sources of income, monthly earnings, mobile phone line, social media posts, and foreign travels were inquired about, stated that his monthly income is 390,000 lira.
Details have emerged regarding the statement given by Habertürk's Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who was arrested under the allegations of "purchasing, accepting, or using narcotic or stimulant substances," "providing a place and means for the use of narcotic substances," and "establishing and managing an organization," as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
11 QUESTIONS WERE ASKED
As part of the investigation file, a total of 11 questions were posed to Ersoy by the gendarmerie. The questions included information about his profession, source of income, and monthly earnings, as well as the GSM line he used, social media posts, security measures in the applications on his phone, and his foreign travels. Ersoy was also asked whether he had made any posts on his social media accounts that encouraged the use of narcotic or stimulant substances.
MONTHLY INCOME IS 390 THOUSAND
According to a report by Damla Güler from Milliyet; Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who stated that he practiced journalism in his statement, said he earned his living this way. Ersoy declared that his monthly income was 390 thousand lira and provided clear answers to questions regarding his financial situation.
"I DID NOT USE NARCOTICS"
In response to the question of whether he had used narcotic substances, Ersoy firmly replied, "I do not use." Following this, he was reminded that there were some pieces of information in the investigation file indicating that he had used narcotic or stimulant substances, and he was asked to provide an explanation. Ersoy stated that he had not used narcotic or stimulant substances, including medications subject to green and red prescriptions, and that he had not engaged in any such use.
During the continuation of his statement, Ersoy was also asked whether he had any contact with known users of narcotic substances and whether he had been in environments where such substances were used. Ersoy stated that he had not been in such an environment, had not witnessed any use, and that no one had urged, convinced, or forced him to use narcotic substances.
HE WAS ASKED IF HE WOULD BE A WHISTLEBLOWER
At the end of his statement to the gendarmerie, Mehmet Akif Ersoy was asked whether he wanted to benefit from the effective remorse provisions and whether he would become a whistleblower. Ersoy responded to these questions, saying, "I do not wish to benefit. I have no other matters to discuss."
