Syrian President Ahmed Shara delivered a message of brotherhood from the Umayyad Mosque on the anniversary of the revolution. Shara, who entered the mosque in military uniform last year, requested a piece of the Kaaba's covering to be placed in the Umayyad Mosque, stating, "Thus, the bonds of love and brotherhood extending from the Holy Mecca to the land of Damascus are being strengthened."
Syrian President Ahmed Shara delivered a message of "brotherhood" at the Umayyad Mosque, where he performed the morning prayer, on the anniversary of the fall of the ousted regime.
ATTIRE DREW ATTENTION
Shara, who arrived at the mosque in military attire he wore when he entered Damascus last year, was accompanied by some ministers, including Foreign Minister Esad Hasan Sheybani.
UNVEILED THE GIFT PRESENTED TO THE MOSQUE
Shara unveiled a gift presented to the mosque on the occasion of the anniversary of the fall of the ousted regime in Saudi Arabia, which was taken from the Kaaba cover and inscribed with verses from the Quran.

In a speech he made to the public later, President Shara stated that he wanted a piece of the Kaaba cover to be present in the Umayyad Mosque, saying, "Thus, the bonds of love and brotherhood extending from the Holy Mecca to the land of Damascus are strengthened."
"WE REMEMBER THE REVOLUTIONARIES WHO WROTE HISTORY"
Referring to the anniversary of the revolution, Shara stated, "With that moment we entered Damascus from the Umayyad Mosque, we remember the revolutionaries and heroic fighters who wrote a new history for the entire ummah."
CELEBRATIONS CONTINUE
After the prayer, Syrians chanting takbir greeted President Shara. Meanwhile, preparations for celebrations in various provinces are ongoing as December 8, the day the ousted regime fell, has been declared a National Holiday across the country. A military parade is expected to take place on Mezze Boulevard in Damascus, while platforms have been set up in Umayyad Square for the celebrations.
