In the bus accident that occurred in Antalya, where 10 people lost their lives, a passenger named Yağız Oğuz, who was injured and is receiving treatment at Eskişehir City Hospital, recounted that he had chatted with the driver İzzet Karaağaç before the incident, saying, "The driver had just started, it was his 4th day, it was clear that he didn't know the road, he entered that intersection at high speed without knowing it."
Yağız Oğuz, who survived the accident in the Döşemealtı district of Antalya, where 10 people, including the driver, lost their lives, recounted those moments after overcoming fractures in his left ankle.
Oğuz, a student at Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University, stated that he was sitting in the back seat of the bus and was asleep during the accident, learning what happened later from others. He mentioned that he learned the driver who caused the accident had just started his profession.
"THE DRIVER WAS NOT SLEEPY" Yağız Oğuz, who said he chatted with the driver İzzet Karaağaç during a break on the way from Eskişehir to Antalya, noted that the driver did not appear to be in a sleepy state and that they were discussing the local delicacies of Kütahya.
HE DESCRIBED THE MOMENT OF THE ACCIDENT: THERE WERE PEOPLE WHO LOST LIMBS After the accident, Yağız Oğuz stated that he helped a friend who lost a limb and a little girl out of the bus. Oğuz said, "It was a terrible accident, of course. There were many injuries, and there were fatalities. I was on my way to school. At that moment, we stopped in Antalya, took a break. Then, after 15 minutes, this accident happened very suddenly. I was asleep, and I woke up at that moment. I put the jackets on myself and squeezed them. That way, I got off lightly. I was alone in the accident. There was no one else next to me. The bus was very chaotic, it was very bad; there were people who lost limbs, and the screams were terrible. I could have gotten out of the bus myself. There was a friend next to me who lost a limb. I helped him out. There was a little girl; I helped her out too. After that, I realized my own injury; my foot was crushed outside the bus, I have a fracture. Besides that, I have open wounds on my foot. I received treatment in Antalya, and then I came here after they did the dressing there. They admitted me here. Now I am lying down, and I am recovering." he said.
"IT WAS CLEAR THE DRIVER DID NOT KNOW THE ROAD, HE WAS INEXPERIENCED" Regarding his conversation with the driver, Yağız Oğuz said:
"The driver has passed away. He was a newly started driver, by the way. It was his 4th day on the job. I spoke with the other victims; it was clear he did not know the road. There was also a foggy road. He entered that intersection at that speed without knowing it. I did not see the driver. However, those who saw said he was driving fast. He was inexperienced, I think; I mean, he had just started, but I don't know. We chatted at the break place where we sat. He was from Kütahya. We talked about things that are famous in Kütahya. We had a little chat about those. After 15 minutes, this accident happened. He did not seem sleepy. He was quite fine, but he was fast."
