ARMED ATTACK ON CHP OFFICIALS IN KONYA

In the Çumra district of Konya, CHP officials were attacked with firearms. According to the information obtained, CHP Provincial Vice President Mustafa Durmaz and Central District Vice President Muhammet Keskince, who were working for the rally that the party will hold in the city on May 4, were attacked by an individual who emerged from a shop. The individual disappeared after the incident.

STATEMENT FROM CHP

In a written statement regarding the issue from CHP, the following was stated: "As the Republican People's Party, while preparing for our public meeting titled 'We Stand for the Will of the Nation' to be held in Konya on Saturday, May 4, the two separate incidents that occurred today have once again revealed the government's intolerance towards democratic politics.

FIRED FROM THE SHOP

Today, in the Çumra district of Konya, our Provincial Vice President Mustafa Durmaz and Central District Vice President Muhammet Keskince, who were working in the field to announce our rally, were attacked by an armed individual. While working with an announcement vehicle in the industrial area, the individual who emerged from a shop blocked the front of the vehicle, opened fire with a gun, and cursed before fleeing the scene. Unfortunately, the initial response of the authorities after the incident was aimed at covering up the attack. Following our reaction, the individual was taken into custody, but we will all see whether true justice will be served.

On the same day, our veteran driver, who was detained for driving our party's bus on April 23, has been placed under house arrest by court order. In other words, one is being punished for doing his job, while the other is being protected despite attacking with a firearm; there is not justice, but a clear double standard."
