Following the arrest of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, the former Editor-in-Chief of Habertürk, in connection with a "drug" investigation, it has been claimed that the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) terminated the positions of Habertürk anchor Ela Rumeysa Cebeci and Visual Director Abdullah Çebi. Cebeci recently denied the allegation that a photo of Ersoy, purportedly taken in a drug-using environment, was found on her phone.
New developments have emerged following the arrest of Habertürk TV General Manager Mehmet Akif Ersoy as part of an ongoing investigation. It has been claimed that Ela Rumeysa Cebeci, one of the Habertürk anchors, has been dismissed by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund.
CLAIM THAT THE VISUAL DIRECTOR HAS ALSO BEEN DISMISSED
It has been alleged that Abdullah Çebi, the Habertürk Visual Director who is said to have close ties with Mehmet Akif Ersoy, has also been fired. No official statement has been made by the institution regarding these allegations.
CEBECİ RESPONDS TO MEHMET AKİF ERSOY ALLEGATION
Habertürk anchor Ela Rumeysa Cebeci denied the claim that a photo of Mehmet Akif Ersoy, allegedly taken in a drug-using environment, was found on her phone. Cebeci stated that her phone is under examination, saying, "The claim is not true. There is no photo of Mehmet Akif Ersoy on my phone. I only spoke briefly with Mehmet Akif Ersoy once at an event attended by all channel employees. Other than that, I have not had any meetings, encounters, or social activities outside of work."
WHAT HAPPENED?
It was announced that as part of a drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, three other individuals, along with Mehmet Akif Ersoy, were detained by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams, and that Ersoy was removed from his position as General Manager of Habertürk TV by TMSF following this process.
Mehmet Akif Ersoy was arrested on charges of "providing a place and opportunity for drug use," "gaining sectoral and material benefits by engaging women around him in sexual relations," and "establishing and managing an organization."
FAMOUS ANCHORS HAD ALSO BEEN DETAINED
Additionally, it was learned that recently anchors Ela Rumeysa Cebeci, Meltem Acet, and Hande Sarıoğlu were also detained as part of the same investigation and were referred to the Forensic Medicine Institution after their procedures at the courthouse.
