President Erdoğan, along with his wife Emine Erdoğan and their accompanying delegation, was welcomed at OR Tambo International Airport by South Africa's Minister of Housing, Water and Sanitation Thembisile Simelane, Turkey's Ambassador to Pretoria Kezban Nilvana Darama Yıldırımgeç, and other officials.
