The co-chair of the DEM Party, Tuncer Bakırhan, stated that after the call from the PKK terrorist organization leader Abdullah Öcalan, MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli called him. Bakırhan conveyed that Bahçeli told him, "We will democratize this country together."

While the echoes of the call to lay down arms by the terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan continue; a striking statement came from Tuncer Bakırhan, Co-Chair of the DEM Party.
Speaking in a television program, Bakırhan stated that MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli called him just 1 minute after the call was made.
"HE CALLED ME ONE MINUTE AFTER THE CALL"
Bakırhan, who said, "Mr. Öcalan values the October 1 statement and finds it very important," added, "He dedicated a special time for that. Mr. Bahçeli could play his role right after this call. After the live broadcast, Bahçeli called me. He congratulated me. 'Relax, we will democratize this country together,' he said. We will do everything we can for democracy. I am where I stand. I am ready to do whatever it takes for democracy," he expressed.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
The DEM Party delegation met for the third time with the terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan on Imralı Island. The third meeting at the Imralı F-Type High Security Closed Prison was attended by a 7-member DEM Party delegation, including Pervin Buldan, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, and Ahmet Türk, as well as DEM Party Co-Chairs Tülay Hatimoğulları and Tuncer Bakırhan.
The DEM Party delegation returning to Istanbul shared Öcalan's call text with the public, in which Öcalan stated, "Gather your congress and make a decision; all groups must lay down their arms, and the PKK must disband. I take full responsibility." A recent photo of Öcalan taken on Imralı Island was also shared before the announcement.
