It is being discussed that Musk's words could encourage some fiscally conservative Republican senators who are starting to oppose Trump.
Billionaire technology entrepreneur Elon Musk has sparked new tension with U.S. President Donald Trump, calling Trump's tax and spending proposal "a disgusting disgrace."
"REPUBLICAN SENATORS MAY GAIN COURAGE"
Musk's stance may encourage some fiscally conservative Republican senators who have begun to oppose Trump. These senators are continuing critical negotiations on the measure referred to in Congress as "a big, beautiful piece of legislation."
"I'M SORRY BUT I CAN'T STAND THIS ANYMORE"
Musk wrote on the X social media platform: "I'm sorry but I can't stand this anymore. This massive, unbelievable, looting-filled Congressional spending proposal is a disgusting disgrace. Shame on those who vote for it: You know you are doing wrong. You know it. This law will increase the already massive budget deficit by $2.5 trillion (!!) and will put American citizens under an unbearable and unsustainable debt burden."
Having made significant donations to Trump during last year's election campaign, Musk had left his position at the White House last week. Musk was head of a unit called the "Department of Government Efficiency" (Doge), established to reduce fraud and waste. Musk argued that the Republican bill would undermine Doge's efforts and further plunge the U.S. into debt.
