After the inflation figures, the lowest pension has risen to 18,939 lira. It is expected that the economic management will hold a meeting regarding the lowest pension this week. Speaking before the meeting, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated that a regulation regarding the lowest pension will be made. Yılmaz said, "We will not be insensitive to the demands," while Işıkhan stated, "We will increase the income support."

After the announcement of inflation figures by TÜİK, the pension increase and civil servant salary increase have gained clarity. Civil servant salaries and retired civil servant monthly payments will be increased by 18.60%. Pension payments for SGK and BAĞ-KUR will also be increased by 12.19%. Accordingly, the lowest pension, which was 16,881 lira, has become 18,939 lira for the first 6 months of the year with the announced figure. Now, attention is turned to the expected regulation regarding the lowest pension.

ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT MEETING FOR THE LOWEST PENSION

In this context, it is expected that Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan, and AK Party Group Chairman Abdullah Güler will hold a meeting this week regarding the agenda of the lowest pension.

MEETING ON WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY

According to the information obtained, the meeting is planned to be held on Wednesday or Thursday. It is stated that evaluations regarding the lowest pension at the level of 18,939 TL will be discussed in the meeting.

AK Party sources reported that impact analyses related to the regulation and its reflection on the budget will be evaluated in the meeting. After the evaluations, it is expected that steps regarding the lowest pension will become clearer.

CEVDET YILMAZ: WE WILL NOT REMAIN INDIFFERENT TO DEMANDS

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated in an NTV broadcast that the regulation regarding the lowest pension will be made as soon as possible. Yılmaz expressed that they will not remain indifferent to the demands of retirees, saying, "I want to say that we are with our retirees by pushing our resources to the limit. We did not let inflation crush them."

Continuing his remarks, Yılmaz said, "Our SSK and civil servant retirees receive their rule-based increases. We do not need an additional regulation. However, the regulation regarding the minimum pension is an approach brought within a social support logic. These regulations are made as much as the inflation difference. This increase regarding the lowest pension needs to be made by law. An impact assessment is being conducted without a decision on these matters. The impact on the budget and resources will be evaluated, and a position will be determined. The final decision is up to our Parliament. These will be concluded in a short time. I want to say that we are with our retirees by pushing our resources to the limit. We did not let inflation crush them."

MINISTER IŞIKHAN: INCOME SUPPORT WILL INCREASE

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan stated that the AK Party group is working on the lowest pension and that income support will be increased.

Işıkhan's statement is as follows:

"I would like to share that the AK Party Group in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey is conducting a study on this issue, and after meetings with our retired citizens and veterans, a statement will be made regarding the issue. There is no harm in me giving this as a last-minute news. Our Parliament will carry out the regulation regarding the lowest pension, and after it is turned into a draft law, they will share it with the public. The AK Party group will gather, make their evaluations, and I think it will be presented to our Parliament in a short time because we need to turn it into a legal dimension. Hopefully, that will also be beneficial for our retirees and veterans.

Now, there are very different groups among retirees, from the richest person to those in the worst situation. But we must approach these equally. Now, let’s design a system that we are discussing in the Economic Coordination Board. There are social aids provided by our Ministry of Family and Social Services, which are very important. But we are trying to develop a model here, and hopefully, in the near future, perhaps in June 2026, we can further increase this income support for citizens in poor conditions regarding the lowest pension. We can say that there is such a study. However, the final decision will, of course, be made in Parliament, working together with our other ministries, under the chairmanship of our Vice President, and we are striving to find a permanent solution regarding the lowest pension.
