"EuroCup and EuroLeague matches will resume in Israel on December 9 and 11, respectively.
Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) member clubs gathered on Thursday, November 27, to evaluate the current situation in Israel. The meeting was held following the announcement made on October 21, which stated that December 1 was set as a temporary date for the resumption of matches in the country.
During the meeting, clubs were provided with detailed information about the official visit of the Euroleague Basketball (EB) delegation to Israel last week. As part of the visit, a comprehensive on-site examination of the current conditions and the security measures and conditions to be implemented was conducted, along with official meetings with various government institutions. Clubs also reviewed the latest discussions conducted by EB with local and international authorities, visiting teams, and all relevant organizations, including ELPA, EHCB, and UEBO, which were actively involved and informed during the monitoring phase.
After careful evaluation, Euroleague Basketball decided to implement the return plan and continue matches in Israel with the 10th week of EuroCup and the 15th week of EuroLeague. The first match to be played in Israel since October 2023 will be on December 9, when Hapoel Jerusalem hosts Veolia Towers Hamburg in EuroCup. EuroLeague will return with the match between Maccabi and ASVEL on December 11, while Hapoel Tel Aviv will play its first home match against Red Star on December 16.
Euroleague Basketball will continue to closely monitor developments to ensure the safety and health of all participants and maintain constant communication with local and international authorities, visiting teams, and all relevant organizations. In this context, the return plan presented by the EB management commits to full cooperation and compliance with the national government's recommendations or restrictions regarding the travel of national teams to Israel."
