A Syrian national who fled from a police identity check in Antalya jumped into a stream. The person, who was in danger of drowning, was rescued by the police and bystanders using a hose. After being rescued, the individual attempted to escape again by entering a rainwater drainage channel, but was caught and taken into custody.
Yesterday at around 4:00 PM, a chase reminiscent of movies took place in Atatürk Park in the Finike district of Antalya. Sami C., a Syrian national, started to flee when the police wanted to conduct an identity check.
JUMPED INTO THE WATER TO ESCAPE THE POLICE
Sami C., who was pursued by the police, jumped into the Acısu Stream after passing through the rainwater drain right next to the park. The police and bystanders rushed to help Sami C., who was in danger of drowning. He was pulled to the shore with a hose extended from a height of about 5 meters.
TRIED TO FLEE AGAIN AFTER BEING RESCUED
After being rescued, Sami C. entered the rainwater drainage channel located right next to the stream and was caught after a brief chase.
"I DIDN'T HAVE MY ID, I PANICKED," HE SAID
It was learned that Sami C., who was taken into custody and brought to the Finike District Police Department, said he panicked and tried to escape because he did not have an ID on him. After his interrogation, Sami C. was released. Meanwhile, Sami C.'s attempt to flee after being rescued from the stream and the police's detention of him were captured on camera.
