The BIST 100 index started the week with a 0.43% increase following the announcement of inflation data, testing the level of 11,628 during the day and setting a new record. Among the sector indices, the highest increase was in sports at 2.82%, while the largest decline was in the textile and leather sector at 1.56%.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the new week positively. The index gained 49.34 points, increasing by 0.43% compared to the previous close, reaching 11,547.72 points with the release of inflation data. As of 11:15, the BIST 100 tested the 11,628 level, setting a new record.

HIGHEST WEEKLY CLOSING OF ALL TIME

On Friday, the index followed a buying-weighted trend, finishing the day at 11,498.38 points with a rise of 2.10%, achieving the highest weekly closing of all time.

THE SECTOR THAT DECLINED THE MOST WAS TEXTILES AND LEATHER

At the opening, the banking index gained 0.70%, while the holding index recorded a decline of 0.21%. Among sector indices, the highest increase was seen in the sports index with 2.82%. The sector that declined the most was textiles and leather with a decrease of 1.56%.

In global markets, expectations that the U.S. attack on Venezuela will have a limited impact on the global economy, along with gains in technology stocks, keep risk appetite high. It is noted that investors are refocusing on the U.S. Federal Reserve's (Fed) interest rate policy and liquidity conditions rather than risks stemming from Venezuela.

EYES ON THE DATA COMING FROM THE U.S.

Analysts state that the non-farm payroll data to be released in the U.S. this week will provide a clearer picture of the labor market's trajectory and may signal the Fed's next steps. It is indicated that the data could be decisive for the direction of the markets.
