The Minister of Interior, Yerlikaya, announced on his social media account that an operation against human smuggling was conducted across the country. As part of the operation, 29 human smuggling organizers and 723 irregular migrants were apprehended.

Interior Minister Yerlikaya announced that 29 organizers and 723 irregular migrants were caught in the human smuggling operation.



Minister Yerlikaya stated the following in his post:



"Turkey presents an exemplary model to the world in migration management, respecting human rights and freedoms, adhering to legal and civilizational values, and never compromising on public order and security. We address the issue of migration in all its dimensions, including regular-irregular migration, international protection, voluntary, safe, and dignified return, combating human smuggling, and border management."



Under the coordination of our Directorate General of Migration Management; within the scope of the fight against irregular migration and human traffickers carried out by the General Directorate of Security, the Gendarmerie General Command, and the Coast Guard Command, inspections were conducted in abandoned places, public entertainment venues, truck garages, terminals, ports, and public transport stops and stations;



In the inspections where the identity checks of 388,809 people were conducted;



26,621 personnel, with 8,524 teams at 5,228 points; a total of 18,650 places were checked, including 4,505 abandoned buildings, 7,634 public places, 475 terminals, and 6,036 other locations."



RETURN PROCEDURES HAVE BEEN INITIATED



The procedures for the return of identified irregular migrants to their countries have been initiated.
