The investigation into the death of Fatma Kılıç, who was initially believed to have died due to a gas leak in Amasya, has been completed after 8 months. The examinations revealed that Kılıç was strangled to death by her brother's wife, Haşim Özer. It was determined that Özer had asked Kılıç for a loan, and after receiving a negative response, he committed the murder.
It has been determined that Fatma Kılıç (76), who was allegedly poisoned to death due to a gas leak in her home in Amasya, was actually strangled to death by her brother-in-law Haşim Özer in Istanbul. Özer has been arrested.
The incident occurred on March 24 at around 01:30 in the Üçler neighborhood. Relatives living outside the city, who could not reach Fatma Kılıç by phone for two days, sought help from neighbors. When the neighbors knocked on the door and heard no response from inside, they became suspicious and reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the notification, police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the address. When firefighters opened the door and entered, they found Kılıç lying motionless in the bed she had set up in the kitchen. Medical teams determined that Kılıç had passed away.
THE TRUTH EMERGED
In the initial examination, it was stated that Kılıç had forgotten the kettle she put on the stove to brew tea, and that the overflowing water extinguished the fire, causing the gas to spread into the room, leading to her death from gas poisoning. However, due to the bruises on her neck, the death was deemed suspicious, and an autopsy was performed on Kılıç.
DNA ANALYSIS CONDUCTED
The Amasya Police Department's Homicide Bureau reached suspicious findings as a result of an extensive investigation lasting 8 months. In this context, statements from over 300 people were taken, and DNA analyses were conducted. It was determined that her relative Haşim Özer, who lives in Istanbul, was connected to the incident. Özer was found to have strangled Kılıç after asking her for a loan, and he placed the kettle on the stove and turned on the gas to make the incident appear as a gas poisoning.
ARRESTED IN ISTANBUL, CONFESSED
Haşim Özer was detained in Istanbul on November 19. After being brought to Amasya, Özer stated during his proceedings at the police station that he had asked Kılıç for a loan, and when she did not give it, he strangled her and expressed remorse. Özer was arrested for the crime of 'intentional killing of a woman.'
