In the investigation regarding the martyrdom of police officer Şeyda Yılmaz by Yunus Emre Geçti, an indictment has been prepared against three police officers on charges of 'misuse of duty,' with a request for imprisonment ranging from 6 months to 2 years. During the operation, two of the police officers lost control of Yunus Emre Geçti, while the other officer lost his weapon.
Yunus Emre Geçti, who escaped from the police station after being caught for 'motorcycle theft' on September 22 in Ümraniye, has been the subject of a manhunt. Yunus Emre Geçti (19), who has 26 criminal records, resisted the police who tried to apprehend him in Ihlamurkuyu. During the ensuing struggle, he seized a police officer's weapon and opened fire on the surroundings and the police officers. In the incident, police officer Şeyda Yılmaz (27) was martyred. Police officer Kürşat Hakkı Sarıtepe and the assailant's mother P.G. (43) were injured.

'TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE POLICE OFFICER'S DISTRACTION AND ESCAPED' The indictment noted that Yunus Emre Geçti, who was caught on suspicion of theft, was held in the custody room of the police station, and that he took advantage of the distraction of the suspect police officer Ramazan A. after his mother and relatives requested to bring food and meet with him, and escaped. It was reported that Commissioner Abdullah A. assigned martyred police officer Şeyda Yılmaz and Kürşat Hakkı S. for the apprehension efforts, and during the chase and struggle that occurred on Petrolyolu Street in Ihlamurkuyu Neighborhood, police officer Şeyda Yılmaz lost her life. The indictment stated that suspect police officer Ramazan A. kept Yunus Emre Geçti in the custody room, and during this time, he took him out of the room alone and without handcuffs to meet with his family, and while he was meeting with his family, Ramazan A. distanced himself, allowing Geçti to escape. It was emphasized that Commissioner Abdullah A. was in the supervisor's room at the time of the incident, that Geçti was waiting alone, and that no precautions were taken, and security measures were not observed. It was recorded that police officer Kürşat Hakkı S. caused the assailant to take his service weapon while trying to apprehend the fleeing Yunus Emre Geçti, and that the person who fired with this weapon caused the death of police officer Şeyda Yılmaz.
