The departures from the terrorist organization SDF, which has been given a deadline until the end of the year for integration into the Syrian army, have accelerated. While all options, including a joint operation between the Ankara and Damascus administrations, are on the table, the Liva Raqqa and Suvvar Raqqa groups have separated from the PKK-SDF terrorist organization.
"Terror-free Turkey" process commission report is awaited, while it is stated that the deadline set in the agreement signed between the SDF and the Damascus administration on March 10 will expire at the end of the year. Although the agreement clearly states that the integration process must be completed by the end of this year at the latest, the SDF claims that "the duration of such agreements is one year," attempting to extend the process until March 10, 2026.
Despite the timeline set in the agreement reached on March 10, it is expressed that the SDF is not expected to achieve full integration with the army and other state institutions by the end of the year. However, Turkey emphasizes that concrete steps must be taken before the year ends.
ALL OPTIONS ON THE TABLE
Following warnings from Ankara to "hurry up," it is noted that the SDF may aim to prolong the process by taking limited steps towards integration by December 31. Turkey and Syria are aware of the expectation of a regionally crisis supported by Israel behind the SDF, and therefore, it is recorded that they keep all options, including joint operations, on the agenda.
FIDAN HAD DRAWN ATTENTION TO ISRAEL'S OBSTACLE
Lastly, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan pointed out the obstacle posed by Israel in the integration process of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Syrian extension of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG, stating, "We see that the SDF is not willing to make progress. The fact that the SDF is carrying out certain activities in coordination with Israel is currently a major obstacle in the negotiations conducted with Damascus."
4,500-STRONG GROUP SEPARATED FROM SDF
While the situation regarding northern Syria remains uncertain, the Liva Rakka and Suvvar Rakka groups announced that they have separated from the PKK-SDF terrorist organization. Speaking to the Turkey newspaper, Suvvar Rakka Commander Ahmed Aloush stated that all negotiations regarding Rakka will be conducted by the Rakka Province Political Council, composed of local elements instead of the SDF.
The Suvvar Rakka Group has been acting together with the SDF since 2015. Ahmed Aloush reported that they currently have around 4,500 fighters and that they will not act with the PKK-SDF structure in the future. Emphasizing that they will fight for a free and united Syria, Aloush said, "The PYD-YPG should leave the areas it controls to its own people until the national police and army are restructured. Additionally, we demand the release of all detainees held in PKK-SDF prisons. ISIS detainees and criminals should be transferred to a central prison currently under the supervision of the international coalition. This situation should continue until an agreement is reached with the Damascus government regarding the status of ISIS detainees. Otherwise, there should be no doubt that the SDF will use these ISIS members to create chaos in the region," he said.
