"IT WAS ONE OF THE MONITORED HOTELS"
Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mustafa Bozbey provided the following information regarding the fire: "The building has been completely evacuated. Although there is no clear information, it has been reported that 2 people have died. As soon as the fire started, our friends immediately reached out and intervened. They completely evacuated the building. It was one of the monitored hotels. It was a hotel that we subjected to re-inspection after the fire in Kartalkaya. We have sent the prepared report to both the Uludağ Area Directorate, the relevant ministry, and the Osmangazi Municipality."
"IT WAS A HOTEL DECIDED TO BE CLOSED, BUT..."
Stating that it is not possible to convey the report clearly, Bozbey said, "However, it was a hotel with deficiencies. It was a hotel that was decided to be closed. But I do not know whether it was closed or not. We are conducting inspections. We send these reports to the Uludağ Area Directorate. They take the necessary actions. The hotel has been completely evacuated. I have had discussions with the authorities regarding the cause of the fire. However, first of all, they are working on extinguishing the fire. It is estimated that there were 4 staff members in the hotel. This is not exact information. The cause of the fire will be revealed in the inspection to be conducted after the cooling efforts. However, according to initial findings, it is suspected to have originated from the kitchen or cafeteria on the lower floor. The building has been completely evacuated and the fire has been completely extinguished. Cooling efforts are underway. It is being checked one by one whether there are people inside," he said.
